The month in numbers

Market · Written idea

Share a few figures from your own market and what they mean for someone thinking about buying or selling. Pull them from your MLS or another source you can cite.

What you supply.

  • The area and period the figures cover
  • Median sale price, homes sold, days on market and active listings from one source
  • The comparison period for each change
  • The source name and the date you checked it
  • One sentence on what the numbers mean, in your own words

What you can change.

Use the same source and period for every figure, and name the area it covers. Leave out any number you cannot confirm instead of estimating it.

The outline.

  1. Title

    “[Area] in [Month Year]”

  2. Sales

Median sale price, homes sold and median days on market for [the reporting period]. Show each change from [the comparison period].

  3. Available homes

Active listings as of [snapshot date], compared with the same point in [the comparison period]. Label the snapshot separately from the sales period.

  4. What it means

“[One sentence, in your words, for someone thinking about buying or selling].”

  5. Source

“Source: [MLS or other source], [area], [period]. Checked [date].”

Build it yourself.

Use the outline to make one feed post in any design tool. Fill every bracketed field with your own details and check it before posting.
